Since 1994, Mike Bearden has been helping direct Steel Sales to where it is today. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Henderson State University, Mike started a career that has grown into over 24 years of industrial distribution excellence. In addition to continued factory training on a number of product lines over the years, Mike is in his 6th year of being on the Advisory Council for Dayton Lamina Corporation. Dayton is by far the world’s leader in the metal stamping world when it comes to standard and special punches and die buttons. This is an important responsibility as there are only 8 distributor representatives from across the entire country. It is a responsibility that Mike takes very seriously, because it provides a forum that helps shape the policies that help our customers.
Mike was fortunate enough to work along side his father, Bob Bearden, for 12 years before Bob retired and sold the business to Mike and David in 2006. Bob was one of the co-founders of Steel Sales in 1975 and Mike learned from the one of the best. It is a compliment when people say, “Like father, like son.” Mike is a tireless worker for his customers just like his father and that is why the little independent industrial distributor that started in 1975 with 2 product lines and a handful of customers, now represents over 90 different companies and has more than 150 customers in 6 states. It’s safe to say that he’s doing something right!
